Laugarás Lagoon, Iceland
Where nature flows, tradition evolves, and the Northern Lights meet the warmth of fire and water
Iceland’s first cascading waterfall lagoon opens summer 2025 in the heart of The Golden Circle. Laugarás Lagoon transforms the geothermal experience into something truly extraordinary, combining architectural elegance, restorative waters, and a culinary destination by one of Iceland’s most acclaimed chefs.
Set on the banks of the Hvíta River in the lush village of Laugarás, this two-level, 1,000m² geothermal haven invites guests to soak beneath waterfalls, unwind in forest-edge saunas, and gaze up at the Northern Lights from warm, mineral-rich waters. Swim-up bars, a hidden grotto, and panoramic views ensure total immersion in nature and comfort.
The experience is anchored by Ylja Restaurant, led by Gísli Matt, founder of the legendary Slippurinn. His seasonal menus celebrate Icelandic ingredients, from wild herbs and seaweeds to greenhouse-grown vegetables, with dishes prepared over open fire and shaped by sustainability.
With three tailored visitor packages, from standard wellness access to a deluxe tasting and private spa experience, Laugarás Lagoon offers a new rhythm of relaxation and reconnection, just 94km from Reykjavík and perfectly positioned between Geysir and Gullfoss.
Opening summer 2025. Bookings from 15th August.
